I lied, I gave her one more go. I really want this character to work out. One of the issues I was having was her 'bald' head, so I played around for a while, and after much longer than is reasonable I decided a wreath of leaves felt right and looked pretty good. I also cheated and made the beak shorter than it probably should be.
Something still ain't quite resonating with me yet... it's better though, better. I dunno. What do you guys think?
