I've had a bunch of character ideas bouncing around my head for a while now, but the idea of a bio/zoologist character that 'studies' the beasts of the world stuck with me in a weird way, so I couldn't stop mulling the idea over in my head after posting that last picture so she sorta had to jump to the front of the line. For a long time I didn't know what to make 'em though... until I realized that the answer could be staring me right in the face. A gryphon/dragon hybrid! It would explain why she has a particular fascination with the mythological beasts of the world, since she can count herself among them (This is a bit "meta", but since my personal line in the furry sand is real life animal ferals, by definition we'll only ever see her with mythological beasts or other made-up creations (in an adult sense at least) so that's why lore-wise she's particularly fond of those). Perhaps she's curious to find out how she came to be, since gryphons and dragons are quite wildly different species and one wouldn't think they could easily reproduce.
Oh, as a side note, you might be wondering why they'd be called "Mythological" beasts when in her world they quite clearly exist. I actually have a journal talking about that "right here!":https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/7810574
Finding a design for this combination proved to be tricky. Gryphons are already a hybrid, so mashing some dragon in there creates a weird three-way hybrid thing which is... kind of a lot. It was hard to avoid her becoming a mess. Whether or not I succeeded I'll leave up to you to decide! I originally was toying with making the gryphon part of her more exotic, some kind of raven/panther gryphon perhaps due to a few people suggesting raven in the comments, but after experimenting for a bit I decided that it would be impossible to tell what the fuck she was if I made the gryphon part even weirder. So I stuck with a classic golden eagle/lion combo and just smashed a little dragon in there. The dragon bits are expressed mostly in the face, but a bit of it comes out in the lion's tail-puff being a bit tail-spadey. The lion mainly comes out in the coat colours and the tail, and the eagle is expressed pretty heavily, most pronounced in the arms and legs, but also leaking into the colour patterns a bit.
She has an appreciation for all the beasts of the world, be they on two legs or four, but she has a particular soft spot for big mythological beasts, to the point of making a career out of watching- sorry, studying them.
I don't know if we'll ever see this girl again, I guess that depends on the reaction she gets, but it was nice to at least get the idea out of my brain.
