h4.Thorough Testing Regimen
I've spent the last few days fiddling around with various methods of stylized rendering and compositing effects, all kinds of NPR stuff, to see if I could find a better look for these blender-based comic panels without having to do a bunch of manual work like making new versions of models specifically for comics, or manually inking each page, etc.
Short answer, no. I can't. While it's definitely possible to get nice 2D stylized looking 3D models, it's just not gonna happen without significant modification of models, and... I dun wanna. I don't want to have to make a second new version of each model if I ever want to do a comic with them, hah. While it's not too difficult to get fairly nice results if you're willing to ink manually, it does increase the amount of time required to make a page by quite a bit, which sucks. :< Still, that's probably the best looking method visually, so I might have to experiment with it a bit more in the future. We'll see.
Anyway, my experimentation failed and I couldn't come up with something better, but I figured I might as well toss together the page I had in mind anyway because it seemed silly and cute, no point in abandoning the idea just 'cause I can't get the exact look I want. Just giving B1R-D13 some thorough testing!
Hope ya like!
