[section=Yes, Mistress]
That first panel is a real mood, innit?
The reaction to my last little comic-style experiment was pretty good, to say the least, so I decided to just jump in. I figure I could spend a lot of time playing around with the style and experimenting and learning stuff, or I could just jump in with both feet and see what comes of it. Learn by doing. I decided to do the latter!
This is a little idea that's been bouncing around in my head since... well, you can probably tell based on the plot thus far. I typically call Kat a lesbian, and I decided to make her as such because of a pet-peeve of mine, where most mind control scenarios tend to involve characters being "forced" to do... exactly the kind of thing they already want to be doing anyway making it always kinda feels toothless to me, so I made Kat a dominant lesbian so that when she's under the effects of mind control and submitting to a guy it actually means something. But there's usually a little asterisk attached to the statement that she's a lesbian, because while I want it to mean something, I don't want it to be outright horrifying. (I also made her massive bitch so she would kind have it coming as well, haha) So while she obviously greatly prefers women, it's more that she sees herself as being above males as a whole rather than being outright disgusted by them en masse. You get the right highly feminine, massively submissive male and a desperate Kat with no women in sight to tend to her, and maybe she can be pushed to allowing a male the honour of servicing her. Which is... what we see here!
Getting the uncanny 3D look out of the style is clearly going to take some work and experimenting. While I'm actually fairly pleased with the direction the characters are ending up, and think they'll be in a good place with a bit more practice, the background is a touch rough. Still, I think it's headed in a decent direction, especially considering it's my first attempt at stylizing a background, I think maybe I just need to eschew blender's lighting entirely and hand-paint the whole background and that'll probably do the trick. Be a fuckin' lot of work though. Too late for this comic though, but it's a shorty (assuming I ever do a page 2, haven't decided yet... depends on the reaction I guess) so I won't be stuck with the current method long.
If you're wondering why the text is white, it's because it looked better. I looked around for a free to use font for commercial purposes for like, a minute and then gave up so I just used the most suitable one that was available in GIMP. I actually mostly like this one, the only problem with it is that it's SUPER thin. This is the bolded version, and even bolded it looks super thin, but for some reason probably related to math or human perception or some shit, when the text is white it looks much bolder and thicker and just generally -way- better so I went with it. Fuck it it's my comic I'm allowed.
Didn't actually end up saving as much time as I would have hoped, still pretty much taking 3 full days of work to make this page (which I crammed into 2 days because I have a problem), but perhaps that speed will improve as I get the workflow down. It sure made it much easier on the brain though, because due to my incredibly weak ability to picture stuff in my mind, all the drawing involved in a comic page has always been a nightmare. With this method it's more like creative tracing which is much easier to manage, hah. So if nothing else, makes the comic making process less stressful.
I think that's it. What do -you- think? Worth continuing on with? I know the degradation kink isn't everyone's thing (honestly it's not my thing at all either, it's just really fun to write an asshole x3) but if nothing else, remember that the fox literally went out of his way to be there in the middle of a pandemic, so that should tell you all you need to know about how he feels about this kind of treatment. Anyway yeah, lemme know!
