yeeeaaaaah! the animation is done. well. more properly, i'm done with the animation. there are lots of little things i'd like to fix or add, but i've sank enough time into this project and i have other things i want to make! i don't like animation very much but i do love the results. let me know what you think in the comments!
there were so many technical difficulties. this is the first time i've tried fluids and it didn't want to render consistently between machines. i upgraded to blender 3.1 near the end of the project and it lead to all sorts of weird corrupted surfaces and materials, and that haunted me right up through the final render. i had to re-render parts of the animation and stitch it together in a video editor. the quality of the render is not as high as i'd like, but then again, my GPUs are not as fast as i'd like :) so this is what you get.
this is also by far one of the most complicated animations i've attempted. there are so many opportunities for polishing (pun intended) but i just don't have the time :( ah well. enjoy!

if this pose looks familiar, that's because it is! grymmbadger drew a wonderful picture of a dalmation stuck in a milking machine years and years ago, and it's stuck with me ever since i first saw it. i reached out to him recently and he gave me the go-ahead to recreate it in 3d! it's not the most faithful recreation and i added my own embellishments, but overall it scratches an itch that i've had for quite some time now.
